Offering in person, virtual, or hybrid sessions
With over a decade of experience in behavioral therapy, I provide high quality mental health counseling to individuals, families, couples, and children with specialty towards Highly Sensitive Persons (HSP). I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Psychology at Loyola University Chicago and Masters of Clinical Psychology at Pepperdine University. Extensive work experience includes providing services to Orange County HCA, Riverside County, and Kaiser Permanente both inpatient and outpatient. I am trained in evidence based models including DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) and CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy).
What does therapy look like?
If you’re someone who wants to be heard, I'm more than happy to listen. Therapy generally involves back and forth dialogue between the patient and provider. Whatever the topic, the conversations and work will always be collaborative. I may at times bring up tough questions to challenge negative thinking patterns or distortions to help the therapeutic process. Ultimately I help client's navigate their own goals and develop a treatment plan based on your needs as a team. I am a firm believer that you are your own best expert!
Can you share a little more about yourself?
Yes of course! I have twin toddler boys who are the center of my world, they keep me busy and on my feet all the time. Trust me when I say that I get it, parenting is not easy and has been one of the most challenging adjustments in my life. This is one of the reasons why I am passionate about working with new parents. When I'm not too busy chasing after my boys, I enjoy being outdoors, figure skating, pretending to be a food critic, traveling, and watching movies.
Why did you choose to become a therapist?
Growing up first generation Asian American I am well aware of the unique immigrant minority experience. As a child and adolescent with high sensitivity, I did not have role models or figures to identify with. I grew up in a strictly traditional household and found it difficult to open up to family and therapists due to cultural differences. I never felt understood nor did I fit in. Generational trauma can be broken, it just needs to start with you. My past has empowered me to pursue a career in therapy, I was able to find my voice and want to help others do the same.
